Golf Course El Rodeo Medellin
Colombia's Historic Mountain Golf Course
Just 15 minutes from El Poblado Park, Club Campestre El Rodeo is where golf in Medellín, as it's played today, truly began. Founded in 1954 and designed by Canadian architects Robert Moote and Howard Watson of Canadian Golf Landscaping, El Rodeo was the first — and remains the only — 18-hole golf course built within the city of Medellín itself, which is why it's widely regarded as the birthplace of golf in the city. Seven decades later, it's still one of the most technically demanding courses in South America.
This is not a flat, forgiving resort course. El Rodeo's 18 holes climb and drop across a mountainside. Every club selection has to account for the terrain as much as the distance, and from several holes the entire Aburrá Valley opens up below, with the city skyline and the Andes as a backdrop few golf courses anywhere can match.

The Course
-
Par 72, 18 holes, ranging from roughly 6,800–6,850 yards
-
Course rating 78.6 / Slope 146 — a genuine test even for strong players
-
Tight, tree-lined fairways and small, contour-driven greens that reward precision over power
-
Bermuda fairways with Bent grass greens on the more recently renovated holes
-
Numerous doglegs and a few blind shots that call for local knowledge — this is where an experienced caddie makes all the difference
-
A signature stretch of holes with panoramic views over Medellín, including one of the most photographed downhill par-3s in the country
Caddies are required for every round, and walking is the standard way to play — part of what keeps El Rodeo's character intact after seven decades.
Many of our visitors describe El Rodeo as the most challenging of the three golf courses in and around Medellín — a reputation earned honestly. The course's demanding routing and its fast, firm greens leave little room for error, rewarding golfers who play with precision rather than power.
It's a fully professional golf course, endorsed by the Colombian Golf Federation, and one that has hosted top national competitions over the decades. And every hard-earned shot comes with a reward: sweeping, uninterrupted views over the city of Medellín that make this round as memorable for its scenery as for its challenge.

A Private Club, Open Through Our Partnership
Club El Rodeo is a fully private, members-only club in the heart of the city. It does not accept public bookings, and access is normally limited to members and their invited guests.
golfinmedellin.com is proud to be an official partner (socios) of Club El Rodeo. Because of this direct relationship, we're able to reserve tee times for our guests directly with the club — something that simply isn't possible for visitors on their own or through most tour operators.
When you book El Rodeo through us, you're not queuing for a rare public slot; you're playing the course the way it's meant to be played, as our guest.
